Vianode and Nordic Electrofuel at Herøya receive 1,4 billion NOK support from the EU

The EU's innovation fund contributes a record amount to Norwegian industry and business. Two of them, Vianode and Nordic Electrofuel are located at Herøya.

The EU Innovation Fund is providing approximately 5.7 billion Norwegian kroner to five different projects in Norway. Two of the companies receiving funding, Vianode and Nordic Electrofuel, are based at Herøya.

"The five projects that receive support all point towards the transformation we are facing as a society. Enova supports those who go ahead and there is therefore every reason to congratulate," says CEO of Enova Nils Kristian Nakstad.

Vianode receives 1 billion NOK

The EU Innovation Fund has decided to grant Vianode, owned by Elkem, Hydro, and Altor, a subsidy of 90 million euros, equivalent to approximately 1 billion Norwegian kroner.

Vianode produces sustainable battery materials at Herøya.

Pilot funding for Nordic Electrofuel

Nordic Electrofuel receives 448 million kroner for the construction of a pilot plant at Herøya. The company plans to produce climate-neutral fuel, e-fuel, synthetic fuel made from CO/CO2, water, and electricity.

Innovation power of Norwegian industry

Sverre Gotaas, CEO of Herøya Industrial Park AS, believes that this demonstrates the innovation power of the Norwegian industry and that the infrastructure and expertise at Herøya and the region are of international standard.

"We are particularly pleased that both these companies have chosen Herøya as the location for their scaling-up projects. Vianode is already underway, while Nordic Electrofuel is in the early stages of starting construction."
