Bilfinger strengthens its work in R&D services for pilot and experimental plants

Bilfinger is strengthening its diverse range of services aimed at R&D businesses and pilot and experimental plants. The company has recently established a unit within its Maintenance and Workshop Services Division for coordinating fabrication, assembly, operational support, servicing and maintenance within this type of activity.

Helge Forsaa is Head of Bilfinger's R&D Support Team in the area of fabrication, assembly and maintenance.

Helge Forsaa heads up Bilfinger's work in this area, and he underlines that Bilfinger is aiming for a strong focus on practical problem-solving and improvement projects.

“Here at Bilfinger, we aspire to be an attractive business partner for our customers' R&D activities and pilot projects. A location at Herøya Industrial Park provides ideal opportunities for pilot projects and R&D activities, due to the unique constellations of skills and facilities,” Forsaa states.

Even more attractive
With this initiative, Bilfinger hopes to make the industrial zone in Grenland and Herøya Industrial Park an even more attractive meeting place for entrepreneurs, by enabling the testing and maturing of industrial ideas.

“With our location, we not only have customer relations in Herøya Industrial Park, but also closeness to the diverse skills resources in the Grenland Region, in terms of demanding industries, research, business development, technical universities and other public players,” Gunnar Bråthen, Head of Maintenance and Workshop Services at Herøya, says.

He emphasises that this is particularly useful in the early phase, when prospects need to be developed, evaluated for cost and profitability and financed.

From initial idea to plant dismantling
Bilfinger can provide assistance in many phases, from initial idea to business concept, and on to the construction of prototypes and pilot plant, the experimental stage, maintenance, services, practical problem-solving, rebuilding and dismantling.

Rolf Olaf Larsen, in charge of Herøya Industrial Park's initiative at Pilot Arena Herøya, is happy that Bilfinger is now strengthening its work aimed at R&D and experimental and pilot plants.

“Bilfinger has a good and strong professional background and is already contributing to R&D and pilot projects. With the new coordination unit, I am confident that Bilfinger will become an even more important contributor in times to come,” Larsen comments.

Wide experience
Bilfinger has many reference projects and experience from many different sectors. Among the central figures in the new initiative are Geir Moe, a specialist in concept and project development, and Marte Nyheim, Departmental Manager for Process, Safety and Environment, in addition to Helge Forsaa, who will lead the unit.
